On our last day before break, the class got to do a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) project. We discussed how the pilgrims came to the New World on boats, what they had to bring with them, etc... I then told them their goal for the project would be to build a boat with their team that could hold 100 pilgrims (we used pennies) when we tested it in our ocean (a tub of water). I gave them bags full of tape, straws, tin foil, and Styrofoam strips, and told them they could build it however they wanted as long as they only used the supplies given and it could fit in our ocean. The kids got the opportunity to learn how to work as a team, and got to figure out what worked and what didn't along the way and adjust their plans as they went. It was a great learning experience!

The MSU-WP Grizzly basketball and volleyball players stopped in for a pep rally! They played games with the kids and gave demos of some of the things they could do... Then everybody got high fives afterward!
Our storybook dress up day was a success! It was so much fun seeing everybody's costumes to go along with some of their favorite books. Thanks to all the parents who helped out, too! :)
Our class had a blast at the McWilliams Pumpkin Patch! We got to go on a "train" ride, see some animals, go through a corn maze, and even get our own pumpkins!
The kids and I had a blast learning about the eclipse and the solar system today! We got to do a couple of fun activities and crafts to help them learn about what causes a solar eclipse, and then even got to eat Moon Pies as a snack while we watched the live feed from NASA. This was a great way to start the week!
